  • These lessons are available over Zoom, with a suggested 30 min time.
  • I will be using the Kodaly Method as my guide.

Voice Focus Lessons

  • These lessons are for students who just want to be better singers.
    • In these lessons, I will teach breathing techniques, proper singer stretches through light yoga, and about vocal health.
    • Expressivity is also a key component, as it aligns with confidence, both of which will be built as lessons progress.
    • They will also learn more in depth about how language works in the context of singing with lessons on the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) and proper diction.
    • Music will be chosen and provided for students throughout the semester and students will be expected to participate in the year-end Studio31 Recital with two or three selected pieces that they have worked on throughout the year.
  • I will also be helping these students prepare for auditions (depending on their age/grade), i.e. District Chorus, All-State Chorus, NATS competitions, school plays, and any other extra curricular auditions.

Advanced College Prep Lessons (High School Only)

  • Accepted if there is interest in pursuing a music degree in college. Student must be involved with a choir of some sort (school, church, or extra curricular, i.e. VCC, YSP)
  • Students will need to be prepared to cover basic music theory, some music history, basic anatomy/function of the voice, amongst other musicianship skills.
  • I want these students to be prepared for college so they can focus on their craft and practicing rather than be worried about music theory homework. I want them to have the confidence of knowledge to tackle any higher-level music program and be at the top of their class!
  • I will help with college auditions, whether that means getting info packets from music programs for the schools they are looking at, helping them schedule auditions, what to do/wear/sing/etc. I can already tell you I will want to do as much as I can – even taking them to the auditions myself if need be!!
